Head Greenskeeper

JOB DESCRIPTION


This position reports directly to the FMGC Board through the Executive and to all Board members at Regular Board Meetings. This position works closely with the Board to assist in achieving the goals set out by the organization. The individual in this position must be able to manage a golf course maintenance grounds crew.


You will be expected to work as part of a Team, which is dedicated to
producing a favorable, pleasant golfing experience for members and guests of all ages and capabilities.


You must have initiative and a positive attitude toward our membership and green fee golfers alike.

Key Functions & Duties


ï‚· Schedule grounds crew to maintain daily course requirements, including cutting of all fairways, rough and greens. This would include routine maintenance of greens, sand traps, trimming of hedges, trees and surrounding fences.
ï‚· General golf course set up and maintenance. Including tee boxes, pin locations, signage, cart paths and trails. Punching the greens and top dressing them annually.
ï‚· Ensure all grounds crew staff adhere to required provincial safety regulations. This would include the wearing of required protective safety equipment.
ï‚· Start up/Shut down, regulate and maintain the irrigation system. This includes the pump, the computer controls, the sprinkler heads and water lines.
ï‚· Ensure all mechanical equipment on the course is properly and regularly maintained, including all mowers, tractors, golf carts and power tools. Duties include fueling, lubrication, oil changes and regular maintenance of all equipment.
ï‚· Head Greenskeeper should have mechanical skills and knowledge in use of all course related equipment. Knowledge with regards to WCB and WHIMIS safety codes and standards is also very important.
ï‚· Co-ordinate seasonal application of fertilizer, pesticides and herbicides in conjunction with our licensed chemical application personnel.
ï‚· Arrange to obtain all supplies required for grounds maintenance operations. This includes repair parts, for machines, equipment and irrigation system, along with lubricants, fuels, chemicals and fertilizers, required course markers and flagsticks.

General Attributes
ï‚· The Head Greenskeeper position is a seasonal position. The contract generally runs from sometime in March to sometime in October. Weather dependent. The Board will  endeavor to announce the dates as soon as possible each year.
ï‚· This position is a hands-on position. This person should be familiar with all tasks associated with maintaining the golf course, and be able to train staff to do the same.
ï‚· This person will have a flexible schedule and be willing to work some evenings and weekends. This person will have the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wet and windy atmospheres.
ï‚· The ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time, physically able to lift, bend, kneel and walk to a degree sufficient enough to complete tasks such as digging, mowing, trimming, sodding, etc.
ï‚· The position requires someone who is self-directed and motivated, along with being a Team player you will need to communicate effectively with the grounds crew and other course staff and volunteers.
ï‚· This person should have keen observational skills to observe when things aren’t right, an attention to detail to make sure things are done properly and some mathematical skills as related to general calculations.


Qualifications
ï‚· Valid Drivers License
ï‚· Prior golf course and irrigation experience an asset.
ï‚· Able to perform physical tasks.
ï‚· Lift up to 50 pounds, walk for extended periods, repeated kneeling and bending.

Clubhouse Manager

 

JOB DESCRIPTION


This position reports directly to the FMGC Board through the Executive and to all Board members at Regular Board Meetings. This position works closely with the Board to assist in achieving the goals set out by the organization. The individual in this position must be able to manage a golf course clubhouse facility.

 

You will be expected to work as part of a Team, which is dedicated to producing a favorable, pleasant golfing experience for members and guests of all ages and capabilities.

 

You must have initiative and a positive attitude toward our membership and green fee golfers alike.

 

Key Functions & Duties
• Maintain clubhouse hours from sunrise to one hour before sunset. This changes
throughout the year and will be considered on a quarter hourly basis.
• Hire seasonal staff based on need and budget.
• Ensure all food and liquor is ordered and inventoried. Ensure all food and liquor is sold in accordance with Provincial regulations.
• Schedule staff to maintain daily clubhouse requirements, including booking/filling tee times, keeping the clubhouse and all facilities clean, maintaining order in the clubhouse, cleaning and preparing rental golf carts.
• Light cooking duties. Must have Food Safe Certificate.
• Serving Alcohol. Must have Pro serve Certificate.
• Enforce clubhouse and golf course rules and regulations. Including our Policy & Procedures.
• Ensure all staff adhere to required provincial safety regulations. This would include their Pro Serve Certificate.
• Perform daily reports from Computer System and directly report to the Club Treasurer.
• Ensure all advertising and promotional materials are ordered as approved by budget.
• Arrange to obtain all supplies required for clubhouse operations. This includes repair parts for machines, equipment and furnaces.
• Communication channel from the FMGC Board to members.

• This position is a hands-on position. This person should be familiar with all tasks associated with operating the golf course, and be able to train staff to do the same.
• This person will have a flexible schedule and be willing to work some evenings and weekends. This person will have the ability to work in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, wet and windy atmospheres.
• The ability to do some light cooking. Food Safe Certificate.
• Serving Alcohol. Pro Serve Certificate.
• The ability to organize tournaments
• The position requires someone who is self-directed and motivated, along with being a Team player you will need to communicate effectively with the clubhouse staff, other
course staff and volunteers.
• This person should have keen observational skills to observe when things aren’t right, an attention to detail to make sure things are done properly and some mathematical skills as related to general calculations.
• Good communication skills. Professional appearance.
• Conflict resolution skills. Ability to diffuse problems before reporting to the Board.
